BERLIN, July 13 (Reuters) – Local weather protests at two German airports led to journey disruptions early on Thursday on the peak of the busy summer time vacation season, with Hamburg airport saying it had halted all site visitors because of this.
The airport in northern Germany stated flight operations had been suspended since 6:10 am (0410 GMT) resulting from a police operation in response to unauthorised people near the touchdown and takeoff space.
Hamburg airport stated some 330 take-offs and landings with 50,000 passengers have been scheduled for Thursday, the beginning of faculty holidays within the area.
“Flight operations is not going to be resumed till it has been ensured that every one individuals have been eliminated,” it stated in an announcement.
Dusseldorf airport in western Germany reported delays resulting from unauthorised people on the premises.
The Letzte Era (Final Era) protest group, whose members have regularly glued themselves to roads and airport tarmacs in Germany in a wave of civil disobedience, posted movies on Twitter of protesters sitting on the asphalt.
