Belfast’s two airports have issued statements with recommendation to passengers following the automobile park fireplace affecting flights to and from London Luton.

The airport suspended all flights after the blaze ripped by a multi-storey automobile park on Tuesday night time, October 10, inflicting it to break down. 4 firefighters and a member of airport employees had been taken to hospital affected by smoke inhalation and one other firefighter was handled on the scene.

The airport issued a press release on Wednesday morning saying it hoped to renew flights at round 3pm following the hearth which broke out at round 9pm.

It has since been confirmed the hearth was brought on by a diesel powered car as Andrew Hopkinson, chief fireplace officer for Bedfordshire Hearth and Rescue Service, stated: “We’ve got no intelligence at this stage to recommend that this was something apart from an unintended fireplace that began in one of many autos that had not lengthy arrived on the airport.

“It was not an EV. This was a diesel powered car.”
