Jim McKenna, the CEO of the Regional Workplace of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST), a significant Adirondack tourism group, has introduced that he plans to retire on April 30, 2024.

McKenna has led ROOST for 4 a long time, and performed a significant function in constructing it into its present function because the official advertising and marketing group for Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and Essex and Hamilton counties.

He additionally serves as a co-chair of the North Nation Regional Financial Improvement Council.

In a press launch on Thursday, McKenna mentioned his philosophy has been to prioritize the wants and heritage of native communities first.

Governor Kathy Hochul referred to as McKenna “the face and voice for Adirondack tourism.”

He was instrumental in bringing the 2023 Winter World College Video games to the North County.

ROOST’s board of administrators will conduct a nationwide search to fill McKenna’s place after he retires within the spring.
