Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday stated the Centre would make investments Rs 60,000 crore by 2047 in river cruise tourism and the event of inexperienced vessels.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the primary Inland Waterways Growth Council assembly in Kolkata, Sonowal stated, “We’re going to make investments Rs 45,000 crore in river cruise, which can take the passenger capability from 2 lakh to fifteen lakh by 2047. The central authorities goals to take a position one other Rs 15,000 crore in inexperienced transport over the following 10 years to develop 1,000 vessels and ferries. In complete, there can be a Rs 60,000 crore funding by 2047, and it is going to be by the public-private partnership (PPP) mannequin.”

Sonowal, who holds the ministerial portfolio of ports, delivery, and waterways, stated such initiatives would assist generate 1000’s of jobs.

Of the Rs 45,000 crore funding in cruise tourism, an estimated Rs 35,000 crore has been earmarked for cruise vessels whereas Rs 10,000 crore can be used for the event of cruise terminal infrastructure.

On the council assembly, which was attended by officers of round 20 states and Union Territories, ‘Harit Nauka’ tips for the inexperienced transition of inland vessels and the River Cruise Tourism Roadmap 2047 have been additionally unveiled.

The previous Assam chief minister performed the day-long assembly to streamline and advance the event of waterways involving states and central authorities businesses.
