  1. Seek out Maori culture if you love to be outdoors. There are countless ways to engage with the Maori culture in New Zealand. The local Te Arawa tribe entertain and energize visitors with cultural performances that are usually held outdoors. You can even have the opportunity to take part in a haka. You would have seen one of these made famous by the country’s All Blacks. When in New Zealand, do as New Zealanders do.
  2. Deep dive into diversity. Auckland is the most cosmopolitan city in New Zealand. There are markets to visit that are packed with Pacific and Asian cuisine. There are even events that are held here for Pacifika, Diwali and the Lantern Festival. Pair all of this with gorgeous wine regions, great beaches and an amazing dining scene, and you’ll see why Auckland is always rated so highly.
  3. Pull on your hiking boots. Tramping is one of the most popular pastimes you’ll find in New Zealand. The outdoor living is something spectacular! From the mountains to the skyline, you won’t be able to stop catching your breath. You’ll find the forest trails of Stewart Island and you’ll be able to take yourself on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. This is a single day experience in the wilderness making your way around two volcanoes. If you want to see those iridescent lakes, this is where you need to go.
  4. Pedal through a multi day cycling experience. The Otago Central Rail Trail is enough to get anybody excited and pumped up. You’ll feast on locally grown fruits and find vineyards stretching for miles here. You can use e-bikes if you don’t want to pedal, but if you want to really have the experience, get yourself on a two wheeled adventure.
  5. Go and find the Kiwis. We don’t just mean the people in New Zealand! At the very southern tip of the South Island, you’ll find a community of birds on protected land. Kiwi birds live here and you need to go and find them and take a picture.
