This was our first visit to the Maldives and it sure won’t be our last! We were colloborating with the travel company, Lubinu travel, to visit the Furaveri Island Resort & Spa.
After a long, delayed flight from the UK – great for the nervous flyer that is my partner! – we ended up missing our seaplane. A few quick conversations iwth a represenative at the airport meant we we went on a slightly different adventure, a combination of small plane and then a speedboat into the resort, very James Bond!
We arrived to have flowers hung around our neck by the welcoming staff and were given a refreshing coconut drink whilst we checked in. Fortuately this was a short procedure and we were taken by buggy to our garden villa.
The villa was spacious with a hugh bed, clean with a nice garden area and an amazing outdoor bathroom, this was divine!
We were just in time for dinner so took a short stroll up the sandy pathway. It was so peaceful, a perfect romantic setting.
The range of food was awesome, a different theme every night with a fresh array of fruit, vegetables, desserts etc. We had a very polite waiter who looked after us all week and gave us a “special table” on the last day, very sweet.
The island was amazing, small enough to walk around in 15 minutes, with the most beautiful beaches and clear sea. The best thing was that you, away from the main area, really felt like you had your own private desert island, amazing! We were, I think, lucky at the time of the year.
There was another simple but great Mexican restaurant at the end of the water villas jetty which we frequented towards the end of our 10 day break. Watching the sunset, dolphins swimming past with a cocktail in hand, what could be better?!
We upgraded to a beach villa for the last 4 days where we had our own pool and direct access to the beach. The most comfortable “bed” lounger next too it, we barely moved excepted for refreshments!
The staff here were great, I’ll write a separate review for the amazing dive team who looked after us all week.
There are some things the resort needs to do to make it as luxurious as some of the other resorts, small tweaks and nothing major.
The nightlife at the Furaveri Island Resort could do with some work but perhaps it suits the romantic couples location. Food service to the room needs a little improvement and bar service to the beach. None of this bothered us at all but if you’re slightly more precious it might!
