Naxos is one of the most beautiful islands in the Cyclades, famous for its rich history, culture, and nature. But what makes Naxos truly stand out is its amazing beaches, and among them, Plaka Beach is the most impressive one. Plaka Beach is a paradise for beach lovers, offering a long and wide stretch of golden sand, crystal clear water, and stunning views. Whether you are looking for relaxation, fun, or adventure, you will find it at Plaka Beach.
Plaka Beach is located on the west coast of Naxos, about 9 km from the main town and port. It is easily accessible by car, motorbike, taxi, or bus. The beach is a continuation of Agia Anna Beach, and extends for about 4 km, making it the longest uninterrupted beach on the island1. The beach is divided into different sections, each with its own character and atmosphere. You can choose from the more crowded and organized part near Agia Anna, where you can find sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars, and restaurants2, or the more quiet and secluded part towards the south, where you can enjoy more privacy and tranquility3. The beach is also a popular spot for nudists, especially at its southern end4.
Plaka Beach is not only beautiful, but also offers a variety of activities and attractions for all tastes and ages. You can swim in the shallow and calm water, sunbathe on the soft sand, or walk along the beach and admire the scenery. You can also try some water sports, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, scuba diving, or snorkeling5. If you are feeling adventurous, you can explore the nearby beaches of Orkos and Mikri Vigla by foot or by boat6. If you are looking for some culture and history, you can visit the nearby town of Parikia, where you can find the Archaeological Museum of Paros and the Byzantine church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani.
Plaka Beach is more than just a beach. It is a place where you can experience the authentic essence of Naxos and Greece. Whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway or an exciting holiday, you will find something to suit your taste at Plaka Beach. Book your accommodation today and discover why Plaka Beach is one of the best beaches in Naxos and Greece.
We loved Plaka beach, each time as we walked sightly further away we found idyllic spots we had the beach pretty much to ourselves, other than the odd nudist, which always amuses me!
I’d probably consider staying around this area next time. I actually walked a few times from the main port, took a few hours along some pretty fast Greek roads but was a pleasant stroll followed by a bus ride back.
